Privacy Policy

Shadance helps you practice dances using videos on your device. The current app has no Shadance account or cloud library. We do not operate a server that receives your practice videos or recordings.

Information kept on your device

The app stores videos you import, prepared video copies, thumbnails, dance titles, saved moves, practice settings, recordings and reference copies used for review. It also keeps local records needed to organize your library and temporary files needed to import or share videos.

Shared video files and links may wait in the app’s shared inbox until you finish importing or discard them. The iOS app and its Share Extension use a shared storage area for this handoff.

These files are stored locally. Your operating system’s backup or device-transfer features may include app data, depending on your settings. Copies you export, share or back up can exist outside Shadance.

Camera, microphone and photo access

• Camera: used for your practice preview and recordings you choose to make. Camera recordings in the current app do not include room microphone audio.
• Microphone: the current developer Media Lab can request access for an optional audio activity test. The test reads audio buffers for a level meter and discards them; it does not save a microphone audio file.
• Videos and photos: the system picker lets you choose a video to import. You can use the system share sheet to export a recording or save a copy using the destinations your device offers.

You can change camera, microphone and photo permissions in your device’s settings. Some related features will then be unavailable.

Links, downloads and sharing

If you share a supported video link to Shadance, the app or iOS Share Extension contacts the source website and its media delivery services to retrieve the video. Those services receive connection information such as your IP address, the requested URL and request headers. Their own privacy policies apply to those requests.

When you choose to share a recording, the selected app or service receives the video you share. An export may include reference audio when available. Review the video and choose the intended recipient before sharing.

Analytics and advertising

The current app does not include advertising or analytics SDKs and does not send practice videos to us for analysis. Your device or app store may separately collect diagnostics under its own settings and policies.

Deleting and keeping information

Use the app’s delete controls to remove saved dances or recordings. Discard pending shared items you no longer want. A recording can retain its own reference copy even after the original dance is deleted; delete the recording to remove that associated copy. Deleting a recording also removes the export copy managed by the app.

Deleting content in Shadance does not remove copies already saved to Photos, sent to another app or included in a backup. Manage those copies with the relevant service or device settings. Removing the app normally removes its local app data; backups are managed separately by your operating system.

Support messages

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. Contact us in the app pre-fills your device model, OS version and app version to help us troubleshoot. You can edit or remove these details before sending. We use this information to answer your request and investigate the issue. Share only what is needed; you do not need to send a private practice video to start a support request.

Support messages are handled through email providers. We keep them as needed to resolve requests and meet applicable obligations. You can ask us to delete a support conversation or help with a privacy request at the address below.

This website

Cloudflare hosts this website and handles network and security information, such as IP addresses and request details, to deliver and protect the pages. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. These pages do not include advertising, analytics scripts or a contact form, and do not set app-specific cookies.

Your choices and questions

You can manage local content, change permissions, choose whether to import links, and decide what to share. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, or to raise a concern with a data protection authority.
